The Alexandria Old School Alumni Association was formed out of a vision from Gwen Brown-Henderson to reunite classmates and friends who attended Parker Gray High School, George Washington High School and TC Williams High School during the 60’s and early 70’s with a social gathering. From that gathering a group of former classmates from Parker Gray, George Washington and T. C. Williams High Schools who were part of the desegregation of our schools during the 60’s and early 70’s, came together in May 2001 to form a non-profit organization known as the Alexandria Old School Alumni Association (AOSAA), later to become incorporated.
The Alexandria Old School Alumni Association, Incorporated is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. Our vision is to promote positive change and reach out to the community in Alexandria, Virginia delivering services through community-based activities, adult mentoring, education, training programs, senior citizens programs, and scholarship programs to help less fortunate individuals in the Alexandria community and honor those past and present individuals who made a difference in the city of Alexandria, VA.
We reconnect with the past in building friendships and better communities for the future by reuniting schoolmates and childhood friends, while rediscovering places, and the pop culture of our youth to help further promote our vision and carry out our mission.
During our tenure we have sponsored a coat drive, school supply drives, adopted a family and foster child for the holidays, provided holiday gift baskets to the less fortunate, sponsored a community gospel concert featuring Alexandria’s talent, Two Teacher’s Appreciation Days (honoring those teachers and community leaders who paved the way for our future during the late 50, 60 and early 70’s), awarded scholarships, sponsored student outreach and senior outing. We gave away several turkeys to our community and sponsored several successful community picnics for Alexandria, VA.
We will continue to reach out to our community thru youth mentoring and involvement, scholarships funds, community outreach with our youth and seniors, nursing homes visits, shoe drives, coat drives, scholarship book donations, holiday gift baskets and community clean up days.
AOSAA is a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt non-profit organization so your donation is applicable for IRS tax credit. Our tax-exempt number is 80-0647871
